Purpose

Statement of Purpose

Although I grew up in very modest and challenging circumstances, I consider my life to be immeasurably rich.

"Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the results." ~Oscar Wilde

"Education is the key to unlocking the world, a passport to freedom." ~Oprah Winfrey

My goal as an educator is to guide students to be academically successful through the authentic development of their English abilities and strong character education that will prepare them for academic success in college and guide them through life's future challenges.

I am passionate about and skilled in collaborating with colleagues, reflecting on data to drive instruction, and using backward -design curriculum mapping that ensures a complete and comprehension education for every child.
I roll up my sleeves at the beginning of each school day and work hard to create an environment of joy for my learners.  I look forward to joining a school community with year-round instruction and extended school days because every student deserves a school that meets their needs through high expectations for all.

I have experience in flexible scheduling, content-based instruction, and Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol.  One of my favorite parts of teaching is developing beneficial relationships with the families of my students, creating foundations of trust and communication that lead to partnerships that support my students' academic growth at home and at school.  I do not waiver in my pursuit of excellence in educating, nor in advocating for my students or supporting my colleagues.

The lives of my students may be challenging, but as a member of your school family, I will celebrate the beautiful gifts each student has to share and provide them with the English needed to fully achieve rich and meaningful lives.
